Today is the 80th birth anniversary of the great chemist Dr. Mario Molina. Dr. Molina played a key role in finding out the effects of global warming on the Earth.

Today is the 80th birthday of Mexican chemist Dr. Mario Molina. Dr. Molina was born on March 19, 1943, in Mexico City. Dr. Molina had a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and an advanced degree from the University of Freiburg, Germany. After completing his studies, he moved to the United States to do postdoctoral research at the University of California, Berkeley, and later at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Mario Molina Achievements:

In the early 1970s, Dr. Molina began researching how synthetic chemicals affect Earth's atmosphere. He was one of the first to discover that chlorofluorocarbons (A chemical found in air conditioners, aerosol sprays, and others) were breaking down ozone and allowing ultraviolet radiation to reach the Earth's surface. He and his co-researchers published their findings in the journal Nature, which later earned them the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

He is said to have been so obsessed with science as a child that he converted his bathroom into a makeshift laboratory. Mario Jose Molina Henriquez, better known as Mario Molina. He was a chemist from Mexico who made several discoveries about the effects of global warming on the planet, including the discovery of a hole in the ozone layer caused by chlorofluorocarbon gases. Dr. Mario Molina passed away on October 07, 2020, due to a heart attack at the age of 77.
